Kingborough Council

Kingborough and Whitsunday Councils both recognise that response to climate change must involve making adjustments to existing activities and practices so that vulnerability to potential impacts associated with climate change can be reduced or opportunities realised.

This shared view, places Kingborough & Whitsunday Councils in a position to mutually benefit in realising this goal. This includes sharing and creating PR opportunities for both Councils and the ability for each Council to advocate jointly on the other's behalf.

Kingborough Council have become the recognised leaders in climate and sustainability and have developed and undertaken a number of case studies and projects to improve the capability and resilience of their Council to manage the risks of climate change.

Kingborough and Whitsunday Councils have partnered together to work constructively and collaboratively to develop responses to climate change and to understand the impacts of climate change upon their respective communities.

Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Andrew Willcox, and Kingborough Council Mayor Steve Wass signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 17 February 2017.
