Whitsunday Coast Airport recorded the highest percentage of on time arrivals of any airport in the country in the latest Aviation Domestic On Time performance report
Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Andrew Willcox expressed his appreciation for the great work being done to get the council owned and operated airport back on track following Cyclone Debbie.
“March was a rough month for our region and the fact we have improved our arrivals on time statistic from 76% in March to 96.3% in April is a credit to our airline partners and staff at the Whitsunday Coast Airport,” he said.
“The bulk of passengers through our airport are visitors so on time arrivals are critical to ensure the start of their holiday experience is positive.”
Mayor Willcox said plans for the runway pavement upgrade at the Whitsunday Coast Airport were also tracking on time.
“Following exhaustive tender and evaluation processes Fulton Hogan have been awarded the primary contract for the design and construct runway upgrade project which will be managed by niche engineering firm Aileron Edge.
“Council remain committed to ensuring the region gets best value for money out of the airport upgrade.
