Whitsunday Regional Council today adopted the 2012-13 Annual Report and resolved a copywould be sent to the Minister for Local Government, Community Recovery and Resilience and itwould be made available on Council’s website.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said the Annual Report for 2012-13 is now available to the public andprovides a good summary of Council’s performance and achievements over the 12 month period.
“The annual report is an insight into Council’s operations and financial position and also anacknowledgement of Council’s commitment to serving the needs of our community andstakeholders into the future,” Mayor Whitney said.
“The Council had previously requested an extension of time to submit the Annual Report 2012-13 due to delays in finalising the 2012-13 Financial Statements.
“The 2012-13 Financial Statements were completed within the auditors negotiated timeframe of28th October 2013.
“However, the Queensland Audit Office advised Council they were unable to issue their auditopinion at that time due to the investigation into the 2009 NDRRA Program which commenced the week prior to the 28th October 2013.
“Currently, all queries have been answered and Council is unaware of any outstanding issues with the report or responses provided for the 2009 NDRRA Program, allowing the 2012-13 financial statements to be certified by audit on 21 February 2014.
“The Financial Statements for the year ended 30th June 2013, were adopted by Council at themeeting held on the 26th February 2014.
“Council also resolved to include the financial statements in the Annual Report 2012-13.
“The 2012-13 Annual Report was originally on the agenda to be adopted by Council at the 26thMarch meeting, which was adjourned until the 9th April.”
