Whitsunday Regional Council today resolved to provide funding and in-kind support for two greatlocal community events occurring on the upcoming Queens Birthday weekend; the Bowen RiverRodeo and Campdraft and Dingo Beach Whitfunday 2014.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said Council is pleased to be able to support the popular Collinsvillecommunity event of the Bowen River Rodeo and Campdraft 2014.
“The annual event has been running for a number of years and draws large crowds to Collinsville over the Queens Birthday long weekend,” Mayor Whitney said.
“Council is pleased to provide a financial contribution of $500 and other in-kind support to theBowen River Rodeo and Campdraft Association, as per their request.
“In return Council will receive PA announcements at regular intervals over the course of theweekend.
“Council will also waive the major event application fee of $600 to assist the Dingo Beach Progress Association in holding their Whitfunday on 8th June.
“The WhitFunday is a great family fun day where no fee is charged for admission.
“For many years the Whitsunday Regional Council has supported this family event held by theDingo Beach Progress Association, in partnership with the Proserpine Lions Club.
“The event includes; market stalls, raffles, children’s beach races, sand sculpturing, and manyother fun activities,” she said.
