Whitsunday Regional Council would like to advise of funding which is currently available under twodifferent Queensland Government grant initiatives.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said Disability Community Events Grants and Everyone’s EnvironmentGrants Programs are currently open for those seeking funding.
“The Disability Community Events Grants 2014 provide one-off grants to organisations to holdevents in the local community during Disability Action Week (14 – 20 September 2014) and/orInternational Day of People with Disability (3 December 2014),” she said.
“Up to $21,400 is available within the region for a number of applications to be considered, anopen tender process is being used to invite applications from organisations.
“The grants are to promote and strengthen accessibility, inclusion and social and economicparticipation of people with disability in the community,” she said.

Mayor Whitney said the Queensland Government’s Everyone’s Environment Grants Program isalso currently seeking applications for a wide range of heritage projects.
“Individuals and community groups can apply for $40,000 in funding for projects with a focus onprotecting Queensland’s built heritage,” she said.
Organisations that are eligible to apply include:
• Non-profit incorporated groups or organisations• Specialists bodies established to conserve or manage heritage places• Owners of places in the Queensland Heritage Register or a local heritage register who candemonstrate community benefit involvementProjects which are eligible include:• Projects that conserve original heritage features, restore heritage parks and gardens,improve access and/or continued use of heritage place by the community• Development of heritage interpretation activities• Restoration of heritage parks and gardens• Restumping and other urgent structural works• Preparation of Conservation Management Plans
