Seniors Week, celebrated from 16 – 24 August, is an opportunity to come together to celebrateand recognise the important contribution our senior citizens make to our community.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said our seniors citizens are valuable members of our community andSeniors Week provided an opportunity to celebrate them.
Seniors are an asset to our region - they are a wealth of knowledge and have contributed to thehistory of our community in so many ways,” she said.
“I encourage everyone to attend one of the Seniors Week morning teas and celebrate thewonderful contribution they have made to the community.”Seniors Week morning tea event details following:
Thursday 14 August, Proserpine Entertainment Centre from 10am – 11am. Following morning tea, cutting of the cake and Morning Melodies with Simon Gallagher.
Tuesday 19 August, Bowen PCYC from 10am - 11am. Following morning tea, Merinda Schoolskipping demonstration.
Thursday 21 August, Collinsville Community Centre from 9.30am – 10.30am. Following morningtea, games and activities will be held.
Throughout Seniors Week the three regional libraries will have a book display that celebrates and recognises senior citizens.
