Whitsunday Regional Council would like to thank all the volunteers and supporters that helpedmake this year’s Schoolies Week, in Airlie Beach, such a success.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said 2,130 Schoolies officially registered in Airlie Beach this year, for theofficial five day response which was a huge success.
“The dance parties organised by Red Frogs and Magnums were well attended each night and the themed dance parties at Magnums were sold out on three occasions,” she said.
“The majority of Schoolies were very well behaved, with Council receiving numerous commentsabout how courteous and polite the Schoolies were.
“There were only a couple of Schoolies arrested for very minor offences.
“The five day response would not have been such a great success without the hundreds of hours volunteers and supporters gave to make Whitsunday Schoolies a fantastic week enjoyed by all.
“Thanks must go to; the SES, QAS, QPS, Fire and Rescue, Youth with a mission, Harvey Norman, Michels Patisserie, Donut King, Fairbairn Bakery, McDonalds, Woolworths, staff at Whitsunday Regional Council and members of the community who gave up their time to ensure our Schoolies enjoyed a safe week of celebrations,” she said.
