Whitsunday Regional Council has been advised that SunWater will cease discharging water intothe Proserpine River between 7am Monday 15th December and 7am Wednesday 17th December 2014, to undertake essential maintenance.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said Council is working to minimise the effect of this SunWater shutdown on all customers in the region.
“Residents in Bowen, Proserpine, Mt Julian, Cannonvale, Jubilee Pocket, Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour are asked to please minimise water usage from 6pm Sunday 14th December to 6pm Wednesday 17th December,” she said.
“The Bowen water supply may need to be supplemented by the Bowen bores during this time and residents may notice a difference in the water quality.
“Council thanks residents for their patience as they work to minimise the effect of this SunWatershutdown on ratepayers.
“Council has been advised by SunWater that this is the minimum time required by SunWater toundertake the maintenance and Council will endeavour to provide updates on the progress ofSunWater’s work as we receive them,” she said.
SunWater North Region Service Manager Jim Mummery thanked residents for their understanding while the essential maintenance work was undertaken.
“We understand there may be some inconvenience and will make every effort to minimise theimpact on residents.”
