Cannonvale Library will host the book launch of Volume 2 of the eagerly awaited “Pioneers of Airlie Beach” this Friday 27th March at 2pm.
Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Jenny Whitney said interested members of the community are invited to the launch of Dale Hell’s second volume on local history.
“Local identity Dale Hell compiled the book which follows on from her successful “Pioneers of Airlie Beach” published in 2014,” she said.
“Both books provide an interesting insight into the transformation of Airlie Beach from a small fishing and holiday village to the major tourist destination it is today.
“Packed with stories and photos about the early days, Volume 2 includes a few very early stories as well as contributions about the 1960s to 1980s growth period.
“This book was made possible through Dale Hell receiving a $5,500 grant from the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF); a partnership funding program between Whitsunday Regional Council and the Queensland Government.
“Congratulation to Dale on the work she has put in to record these anecdotal memories and photographic history of the early tourism pioneers, I encourage interested parties to come along on Friday to preview the book and share in her success.
Light refreshments will be served. Bookings not required.
