Whitsunday Regional Council yesterday resolved to waive more than $4,000 in event application fees.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said Council is happy to support not for profit organisations to deliver a range of social, cultural and recreation activities, events and programs.
“These events provide an opportunity for the community to come together to honour, commemorate, celebrate and recognise achievements,” she said.
“Council is pleased to provide financial assistance to ensure the continued growth and success of these vital community events.”
Event fees waived for the following community organisations: • Proserpine RSL Sub-branch - $625 ANZAC Day Children’s Games; 25 April • Airlie Beach/Whitsunday RSL Sub-branch Inc. - $625 ANZAC Day March/Parade; 25 April• Girudala Community Co-operative Society Ltd – $625 NAIDOC; 11 July • Rotary Club of Bowen Inc. – $375 Mother’s Day Fun Run; 10 May • PCYC Bowen – $874 Rock N Revs Festival Car Show; 10 May • Whitsunday Crisis & Counselling Service Inc. Bowen – $375 DV Candle Lighting Ceremony; 6 May• Whitsunday Crisis & Counselling Service Inc. Cannonvale – $375 DV Candle Lighting Ceremony; 6 May • Whitsunday Moto Sports Club Inc. – $300 QLD C&D Class Karting Championships; 23/24 May
