Whitsunday Regional Council has today resolved to adopt a five year Asset Management Strategy.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said that the Asset Management Strategy is designed to map the planned improvements in the management of the community’s assets.
“The new strategy will ensure that the Council manages its assets in a sustainable and affordable manner for the current and future generations and that we have a full understanding of the physical asset requirements needed to maintain the expected service levels,” Mayor Whitney said.
“Council owns over $1.3 billion in assets which enable us to deliver essential infrastructure and local government services to the community including roads, drains, footpaths, community and recreational facilities, parks and gardens, buildings, land, fleet, waste facilities and water and sewerage networks,” she said.
“It is essential that we continually review our plans and ensure best practice management of our assets into the future,”
“Over the coming years, Council wants to focus on delivering an increased level of service for our community as well as being able to cater for an increasing population; the Asset Management strategy outlines how council will achieve these objectives.”
