Whitsunday Regional Council today resolved to waive the event fees to assist Queensland Rugby Football League Ltd (Northern Division) in holding the State of Origin Fan Day in Proserpine on 30 June 2015.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said the State of Origin Fan Day is a big event for Proserpine which will attract large numbers of locals and visitors hoping to see their Queensland heroes.
“Council is pleased to waive the amount of $874 events fees for the Fan Day which includes their arrival into Whitsunday Coast Airport, a street parade in Main Street Proserpine, a luncheon at the Proserpine Entertainment Centre followed by a development clinic at Les Stagg Oval,” Mayor Whitney said.
“This is an exciting opportunity for rugby enthusiasts to enjoy the Queensland State of Origin team in their home town and also learn valuable skills through the development clinic,” she said.
“Council thanks the Proserpine and Whitsunday Junior and Senior League clubs for their involvement in the bringing this event to the Whitsunday region.”
