Whitsunday Regional Council has approved in-kind support to a maximum of $5000 for the annual Show Whitsunday event held at the Proserpine Showgrounds from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 June 2015.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said that Council has assisted in previous years with the clean-up after the Show at the Proserpine Showgrounds.
“Council usually provides trucks and backhoes to help make the clean-up process easier,” shesaid.
“The agricultural shows have been running for over 100 years and it important that we support this event for the community,”
Mayor Whitney has also reminded dog owners to ensure that their pets are tied up during thefireworks displays at both the Proserpine and Bowen Shows.
"While we all certainly enjoy the fireworks, pet dogs can find the experience very distressing. The sudden, loud noise created by firework displays cause them to become anxious and jump fences," she said.
Council’s Proserpine Customer Service Centre, Proserpine Library and Beach Library will be closed on Friday, 19 June for the Show Whitsunday Holiday, while the Bowen Customer Service and Bowen Library will be closed on Tuesday, 23 June for the Bowen Show Holiday.
