Seniors Week, celebrated from 15 to 23 August, is an opportunity to come together to celebrate and recognise the important contribution our senior citizens make to our community.
Deputy Mayor, Cr Andrew Willcox said our senior citizens are an asset to our region and have contributed to the history of our community in so many ways.
“Seniors Week provides the opportunity to recognise the important role of seniors in theWhitsundays; whether as volunteers or in the workforce, seniors draw on their knowledge and experience and play pivotal roles in their individual families and in the community,” Cr Willcox said.
“I would like to extend my thanks to the volunteers and community groups who facilitate these events across the region each year,” he said.
“I encourage our seniors to attend one of the Seniors Week morning teas and celebrate the wonderful contribution they have made to the community.”
