Whitsunday Regional Council has extended the formal public consultation stage of the draftplanning scheme to Friday 16 October.
The extension comes off the back of public meetings across the region where Council heardfeedback from the public on the draft plan.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said that these meetings were a great opportunity to hear from the public on their thoughts for the future development of region.
“Council’s plans are for building a connected community which takes into account such factors as increases in population, housing diversity, growth in tourism and agriculture and the furtherdevelopment of an efficient transport and infrastructure network,
Mayor Whitney said that the community still have the opportunity to be well informed on theplanning scheme before the consultation phase closes on 16 October.
Written and electronic submissions to the Whitsunday Regional Council Draft Planning Scheme will be accepted up until Friday 16 October.
