Whitsunday Regional Council will work with local business and community stakeholders to oversee a $400,000 revitalisation of the Airlie Beach Foreshore.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said the Airlie Beach Foreshore Project Control Group would be responsible for revitalising the area near the Whitsunday Sailing Club which was previously used as a bus transit terminal.
“Council allocated $400,000 in our 2015/16 Budget for this project, and we’re excited to be working with various stakeholders to revitalise this area of the Airlie Beach Foreshore,” Mayor Whitney said.
“The group will be managed by Council and will include representatives of the Whitsunday Coast Chamber of Commerce, Whitsunday Sailing Club and the Whitsunday Lions Club, to name a few,” she said.
The scope of the project will be to look at the bus transit terminal structure and the area currently used as casual parking, and a possible larger green zone for public community use.
