Whitsunday Regional Council has today resolved to award $58,000 in Community Assistance Grants to 14 community and sporting clubs across the region.
Mayor Andrew Willcox said that providing financial assistance to local community and sporting clubs would benefit the broader community.
“Council actively promotes and encourages participation in various sport and recreation activities in our region, and it’s fantastic that we are able to support our local sporting clubs through the Community Assistance Grants,” Cr Willcox said.
“Local volunteers invest considerable time, effort and money into making our sporting clubs a success, and we appreciate the invaluable contributions our local clubs make to our community,” he said.
Community Assistance Grants, which assist local clubs with running costs, maintenance and special projects, have been awarded to the following clubs for the period 1 February to 19 April 2016:
• Whitsunday Touch Football Association - $3,000• Bowen Football Association - $5,500• Whitsunday Football Club - $3,000• Whitsunday Dirt Riders INC. - $3,000• Bowen Cricket Club - $3,000• Collinsville Golf Club - $1,000• Proserpine/Whitsunday Junior Rugby League Club - $5,500• Tennis Whitsunday - $1,500• Whitsunday Dirt Riders Inc. - $20,000• Bowen Athletics Club - $3,000• Whitsunday Weightlifting Club - $1,000• Whitsunday Moto Sports Club - $1,500• Molongle Creek Boat Club - $5,500• Bowen Swimming Club - $1,500
