Whitsunday Regional Council has today resolved to approve $31,500 in Community Assistance Grants to six different sporting clubs in the Whitsunday Region.
Mayor Andrew Willcox said that the Community Assistance Grants Program enables sporting clubs to upgrade equipment, maintain or upgrade their clubhouse facilities or host competitions and events.
“Council is providing a massive amount of support across the region through this program with $239,000 being approved to 28 different sport and community groups in the previous financial year,” Cr Willcox said.
“It is an important focus for this Council that we can ensure our region is active, healthy and inclusive and that our residents enjoy access to a range of social and recreation activities.”
The following grants were approved at today’s Council Meeting:
Bowen Touch Football Association - $3000
Collinsville Barebow Hunters Club InC - $1,000
Whitsunday Sportspark Inc - $20,000
Whitsunday Touch Football Assocation - $3,000
Whitsunday Football Club Inc - $3,000
Proserpine Junior Cricket Association - $1,500
