Whitsunday Regional Council is encouraging locals to support the 2016 ‘I Believe in Christmas’ campaign.
Mayor Andrew Willcox said Christmas trees have been placed at the Proserpine and Cannonvale libraries for the Whitsunday community to donate a new, unwrapped toy for underprivileged children this Christmas.
“Unfortunately, not every family can afford to spread the Christmas joy, which is why Council is proud to be partnering with Sea FM, Southern Cross 10 and the Salvation Army to host drop off sites for the toy drive,” Mayor Willcox said.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the Whitsunday community to give back and help out some families that are doing it tough and ensure that every child has a gift to open on Christmas morning,” he said.
“I encourage the Whitsunday community to get involved and drop off a new and unwrapped toy at either the Proserpine or Cannonvale library any time before Friday 16 December.”
Sea FM does not broadcast as far north as Bowen and Collinsville which is why Council’s libraries in those towns are not drop off points for the Sea FM ‘I Believe in Christmas’ campaign.
