Girudala hosts an annual NAIDOC celebration, bringing together Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members to honour and share Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture while recognising local Indigenous leaders and achievers. This free, family-friendly event is open to all and features food, music, art, traditional dance and games from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The celebration provides an opportunity to acknowledge community members excelling in employment, sports and community or volunteer work. Attendees can enjoy food stalls offering traditional tastings and lunch, participate in arts and crafts to learn traditional skills and enjoy face painting. Local artists will also be present with market stalls showcasing their work. This event is made possible through fundraising, donations and support from local organisations, allowing Girudala to create a celebration that brings the region together to honour the rich history and contributions of Indigenous community members.
