John Ringland and wife Clare stumbled upon the then closed down Bowen River Hotel more than 15 years ago and decided to “open it up from scratch and get a bit of tourism going”. The heritage-listed hotel was originally built in 1861 and is now a regional attraction with the highlight every year being the Bowen River Rodeo, a once in a lifetime event according to Ringo.
