$3.84 million in park and water upgrades for the Whitsundays

The Whitsunday Region has received $3.84 million under Round 4 of Works for Queensland funding to deliver park and water upgrades over the next three years.

Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Andrew Willcox said planning for the upgrades had already begun, with several key projects identified across the region.

“Over the past five years we have delivered major park and building upgrades under Works for Queensland which have enriched our community spaces and created jobs for locals,” said Mayor Willcox.

“We have modernised our parks and play equipment across the region and improved our facilities for the benefit of our community.”

“The next round includes some great projects such as fixing up the lookout area at Shute Harbour, new footpaths, connecting recycled water irrigation in several Bowen parks, new public amenities at Brandy Creek and repainting the Collinsville Community Centre.”

“Thank you to the Queensland Government for supporting the local economy in the Whitsunday Region.”

The Works for Queensland program is a Queensland Government initiative which aims to stimulate the economy by providing jobs to local companies.
